Tamale : Troubles Pile On Crime Officer, As Youth Group Demands His Head Over Ill-fated Dakpema Letter

The Dagbong Youth for Development (DYD) is demanding the immediate transfer of northern regional crime officer, Supt. Otuo Acheampong,  over what it termed as absolute disrespect to the chiefs, elders and people of Tamale.

The Youth group say the people of Tamale cannot work with a person who has demonstrated by his action absolute disregard to custodians of traditions following the initiation  of a criminal case against the Chief of Tamale and members of his royal court.

The Dakpema, Naa Bawa Fuseini, in the course of the week, ordered the caning and fining as punishment for two young lovers for making and circulating pornographic content in his traditional jurisdiction.

The whipping of the two was captured in a viral video prompting the Criminal Investigations Department in the the region to act by writing to invite for questioning, the palace guards who carried out the punishment

But Vice President of DYD, Mudasir Ahmed Hafiz in an interview says the Dakpema and his elders did no wrong by exercising their customary authority and that the action of the police  demonstrated gross disrespect  not only to the Tamale chief but to the entire Dagbong and its customs and traditions.

Mudasir Ahmed on behalf The Dagbong Youth for Development and in a show of solidarity have offered their support to the Dakpema and his elders, asking them to disregard the police's invitation,

He said the law enforcement agency was not above the customs of the great Dagbong Kingdom.
