Tacorabama Sue's Yussif Danjumah For Defamation, Demands 1 Million Ghana Cedis In Damages

Northern Region second vice chairperson of New Patriotic Party, Felicia Tacorabama Tettey, has taken legal action against Yussif Danjumah, a member of the ruling Party's communication team for alleged defamatory comments made on Tamale-based Radio Diamond.

Mr Yussif Danjumah on the said radio station on April 2, 2019, is alleged to have called Mrs Tettey, a prostitute, daring her to go anywhere she wanted because he, Danjumah, was ready to defend his statement.

"Both Felicia Tacorabama. We all know she is a prostitute. She can go anywhere. I'm ready to defend it. Or you want me to give instances where she was caught pants down? I am not afraid of her," the Tamale south NPP's constituency secretary is alleged to have said on the head-to-head segment of the Diamond Power Drive.

Mrs Felicia Tacorabama says efforts by her lawyers to have Mr Yussif Danjuma retract and apologise for his disparaging remarks have proven futile, hence the reason for her legal action.

A writ seen by is demanding GhC 1million as compensation for general and aggravated damages and a further undisclosed amount for legal fees.

According to the plaintiff, the defendant's derogatory, slanderous and defamatory remarks have destroyed her political ambition within the NPP, especially at the time, she is preparing to put herself up for election as her Party's parliamentary candidate for the Sagnarigu Constituency.

The plaintiff further adds the defendant's  remarks have put her business reputation and status as a married woman as well as a role model to young girls in jeorpady.
