Yendi : Program For Yaa Naa Mahamadu's Funeral Out

Barring any last minute hitch, the Abudu Royal Gate will move to the Old Gbewah Palace on Wednesday, December 12, to commence performance of the Funeral of late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV, who died over three decades ago.

According to an official program, the event will start this Friday, December 14, with installation of Bolin Naa, Mahamadu Abdulai, as regent of Dagbong,  who will then superintend over the funeral rites of his late father.

The two-week event is expected to witness displays of rich Dagbong culture and may prove a site to behold for many, especially young people who have never witness funeral rites of a Dagbong Overlord.

Yaa Naa Mahamadu's funeral rites will end on Friday, December 28, with a Muslim Prayer, after which the Abudus will vacate the Old Gbewah Palace to enable the Andanis access to also perform the funeral of the late Yaa Naa  Yakubu Andani II, who was killed in 2002.

The performance of the funeral of the two Overlords of Dagbong is a significant step in the final report and roadmap to peace submitted recently to the President of the Republic by the committee of eminent Kings.
